About

You can take the girl out of the south,
but y’all can't really take the south out of the girl.
Although I have called Alberta home for over twenty years, I still feel my roots firmly planted among the pines and pecan trees of my formative years.
Born in Memphis, Tennessee, and raised in Houston, Texas, I am now a
Canadian citizen loving living in the beautiful Rocky Mountain foothills of Alberta.
Growing up, I can not remember there ever being a time when I did not draw.
I had the good fortune to have encouragement from friends and my family as well as some amazing art instructors throughout school.
Attending the Art Institute of Houston, I studied commercial art and worked as a graphic designer for many years.
Since 1996 I have pursed the fine art side of things.
Charcoal and pastel are my primary mediums. I enjoy their versatility, softness and tactile nature that allows me to be intimately involved with my art.
A desire to give back has led me to introduce a new component to my portraits. I truly believe that having the ability to create art, to draw or paint or render something with skill, is a gift. Further to that I believe that we should use our gifts to help others. In doing this I have found a new level of passion for doing what I have always loved to do. I am grateful to everyone who has put their trust in me to create a piece of art that represents a loved one. Now, your trust in me will also help non-profits do their good work. I am committing 50% of the profit from every portrait to your choice of organizations.
I believe we are all creators. By creating art, I am literally asking a viewer for a moment, to be drawn into the world as I see it. To share in an experience or a thought. To evoke an emotion or a change. To communicate.
Thank you all very kindly!
